In the wake of Lil Kim’s latest attack on Nicki Minaj, Remy Ma had a few things to say about female rap beef.
“What I think happens with females in this game, they tend to allow other people to pit us against each other. I’ve said this before,” Remy told Hot 97 radio. “They make it seem like there can only be one female. It can be 1,000 guys that’s putting out music and rapping and doing what they do, but when it comes to females in this hip-hop business, they make it seem like it can only be one.”
When it comes to the beef between Nicki and Lil Kim, it’s less about whether there’s room enough for both artists and more about Kim’s belief that Nicki has ripped off her style.
In Kim’s latest track, “Identity Theft,” she raps, “Anything you tryna do, I done did it…I gave birth to your style.”
Kim doesn’t name any one rapper specifically; however, a recent Instagram post pretty much erases any doubt about to whom she was referring.
Though Nicki and Kim have traded insults back and forth over the years, Nicki seemingly recognizes that there’s room for more than one rapper in the game.
As a matter of fact, she’s open to working with Remy in the future.
“I was a fan of hers before she went to jail and nothing has changed. I always felt like she was at the top of her game in relation to all the emcees in the game,” said Nicki who was just featured on a new Beyoncé track. “We’ll see. I’m not closing that off. We’ll get the right thing and we’ll do it for the people.”
Remy and Nicki seem to be on the same page.
“I think it would be dope if we can get an ill chick record with everybody doing what they doing,” Remy said. “Me, maybe Iggy Azaela, Nicki…like just do a nice little collabo.”
