Florida Holds Special Elections for House Seats, and a Mayor

TALLAHASSEE -- Governor DeSantis appointed three members of the House to run state agencies... Halsey Beshears of Jefferson County to run Business and Professional Regulation, Danny Burgess of Pasco County to head Veterans Affairs and Jared Moskowitz of Broward County to run Emergency Management.

As a result, elections take place in two of those districts today (Tuesday). Democrat Dan Daley is unopposed for the Moskowitz seat in Coral Springs. Meantime, Port Richey in Pasco County is electing a new mayor after its former mayor and vice mayor got busted by the cops.

Dale Massad was ousted by the governor from his mayor's post after Pasco deputies said he shot at them, as they were trying to arrest him for practicing medicine without a license. Vice Mayor Terrence Rowe was arrested after deputies say, he conspired to interfere with the investigation.
