We're learning more about why a Chinese woman may have lied to gain access to Mar-a-Lago last spring.
Newly released text messages suggest that Yujing Zhang was more interested in President Trump's involvement in real estate than his politics when she lied to Secret Service agents while the president was staying at his Palm Beach estate.
Zhang was texting to someone with the Bejing Peace and Friendship Business Management Company, which helped organize her trip to Palm Beach County, when she wrote "I was thinking that since Trump himself was in real estate business so that perhaps we would have something to talk about."
She also wrote that in terms of politics "it's not like I really... really understand much of the struggling relationships among the political dignitaries" and "we don't get involved in election or political relations, I personally don't want to get involved in this situation."
Zhang had planned to attend an event that was cancelled.
She'll be sentenced in November for lying to a federal agent and unlawful entry of a restricted building and could get six years in prison.
