Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence Under Fire

The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence under the microscope for all the wrong reasons. Governor DeSantis is asking his Chief Inspector General to see if there are reasonable grounds to put the Coalition under criminal investigation. The nonprofit is under fire for its former CEO's 761-thousand-dollar salary and its disregard of a state audit. Last month, chief operating officer Sandra Barnett was questioned by the House Public Integrity and Ethics Committee saying she doesn't know who decided on the CEO's salary or if the 9 board members are independent or employees of facilities that receive funding. The coalition is responsible for the distribution of tens of millions in state and federal funding each year, but it's refusing to turn over documents like membership lists, personnel files and minutes from board meetings.
