Mask Rage Case Leads to Pinellas Woman's Arrest in Port Charlotte

PORT CHARLOTTE -- A St. Petersburg woman was arrested earlier this week at a Port Charlotte motel after law enforcement officers say she refused to wear a mask.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, 51-year-old Nancy Simpson refused to wear a mask while staying at the motel Tuesday. She was given a trespass notice, then confronted sheriff's deputies who were trying to escort her out. Simpson reportedly told officers to "look her up" because she'd been arrested in the past for battering a police officer and was ready to do it again. It took two deputies to get her out of the room, according to the affidavit. She was released on $2500 bond.
