Broward Commissioners To Vote On Condo Safety Recommendations

Broward Commissioners voting on recommendations from the Condo Structural Issues Committee working to prevent another Surfside tragedy. Mayor Steve Geller says the group held more than 24-hours of hearings, coming up with dozens of suggestions like having a reserve study done every three years which must be submitted to all residents. The group also recommends requiring inspections every 30 years instead of 40, requiring all condos to obtain insurance and ensuring local governments be given all copies of safety reports. The list of changes voted on today could be pushed through by legislators during the next session.
