The 9-count manslaughter trial of the administrator at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills is over, thrown out today by the judge. There will be no verdict or appeals.
Jorge Carballo was at the helm of the nursing home during Hurricane Irma when power was knocked out, disabling the air conditioning. Sweltering conditions inside led to the deaths of a dozen residents.
The judge ruling this afternoon, there is insufficient evidence that Carballo is liable for those deaths, and there's no reason to continue the proceedings.
