Florida Immigrant Advocates Protest On 20th Anniversary Of DHS

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Department of Homeland Security created by former President George W. Bush after 9/11. Florida immigrant advocates are marking the day by calling for the end of alleged abuse and inhumane conditions at detention centers. Guadalupe de la Cruz says D-H-S agents take advantage of immigrants through surveillance, medical neglect, torture, military occupation and punitive immigration laws. Advocates are now calling for the closure of the Baker County Detention Center in North Florida.
