La Porte police report Amanda Downs, 25, was photographed pointing what appears to be a handgun at another driver in an apparent road rage incident.
La Porte police have arrested a woman accused of pointing a handgun at another driver in an apparent road rage incident on Highway 225.
According to police, Amanda Downs, 25, was driving a red Silverado pickup truck on Wednesday morning when the unidentified victim captured an image of the driver pointing what initially appeared to be a handgun, police said.
This was the second report of a road rage incident around the same time of day and location. The first occurred in July. The suspect and vehicle in the July incident matched the description of Downs and her truck.
Downs, of Baytown, confessed to both incidents when questioned by authorities. Police said she surrendered what turned out to be a large folding knife cast in the shape of a handgun. Downs is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
La Porte police want to remind motorists that road rage can quickly escalate to where someone is seriously injured or killed. Victims of road rage should call 911 and immediately begin driving toward the nearest police station or public place.
