Here’s what it means to be “California sober”
I'm pretty sure that we all have a handle on what it means to be "California sober", but here's a quick recap in case you may have inhaled or ingested some substance that may have messed with your memory for a second...California sober is when you do not use other substances, but do use marijuana. It has been a term that has been around for a while, but has been brought back to the forefront by Demi Lovato, who announced recently that while fighting addiction, she would no longer only be California sober, but sober, sober. The fact is that it works for some, but not all. Some people who may have had a problem with other substances, or are trying to avoid a problem, live the California sober life very well. They avoid much more harmful substances with one that is relatively safe. Nobody has ever died from pot, but other people find the California sober method to be unsuccessful. Some find that using marijuana lowers their inhibitions to the point where they may use other substances, or fool themselves into thinking that since being California sober works so well, that maybe they can "dabble" with other substances and that can turn back into full blown addiction. It all depends on the person and what works for their overall goals of sobriety. Now OBVIOUSLY we are talking about moderate marijuana use, not stoned all day every day, that is simply trading one addiction for another. Check out more here
