We’re getting a “Grease” prequel series
I am NOT a fan of musicals, never have been, but I remember seeing "Grease" as a kid and despite the fact that it was definitely a musical, John Travolta and Olivia Newton John somehow made it cool. Strange too, as it is a musical romantic comedy set in the 1950s. Danny is the leader of a cool "gang" and Sandy is the transfer student he had a summer romance with, assuming he'd never ee her again. With all the twists and turns you'd expect of a rom com, "Grease" wormed its' way into our hearts and is now going to get a prequel series. Paramount + announced that shooting began for "Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies" and is going to be a 10-part musical series. According to the release, the show, set in 1954 at California's Rydell High, four years before the events of "Grease", will star Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells plays Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara is Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson plays Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt is Buddy, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper plays Wally and Jackie Hoffman as Asst.
