Don’t have an hour for the gym? How about 3 seconds?

Look, I get it, it's not easy to find time in your busy life to get to the gym. Between work and family, who has an hour to get to the gym and get to clangin' and bangin'? Well, can you spare 3 seconds? According to new research, that could be all it takes to get a workout and see results, aka GAINS!! Research shows that lifting weights for as little as three seconds a day can improve muscle strength. The study had university students performing one muscle contraction at maximum effort for three seconds a day for five days a week over four weeks. They performed either an isometric, concentric or eccentric bicep curl at their maximum effort while researchers measured the muscle's maximum voluntary contraction strength. Measuring both before and after the four-week period and no matter which bicep curl they did, all groups saw improvement. The study showed all three lifting methods had some benefits for muscle strength, but eccentric contraction easily produced the best results. Really interesting to see how little time is actually needed to improve strength and health. More here
