The best time of day to eat dinner, according to experts

The best time of day to eat dinner, according to experts

If the pandemic did one thing, it was change our eating habits. 7PM used to be the average "normal" dinner time, but the pandemic kind of had people eating earlier. Dinner time became more like 6PM, or even earlier. One thing this has done was make experts evaluate the actual BEST time to eat dinner. The answer isn't SO cut and dry that there's not some wiggle room though, experts say the optimal time to eat dinner is between 6PM and 8PM. That way if you go to bed around 10, or 11, your food will have enough time to fully digest. It also kind of depends when you go to bed too. If you go to bed pretty early, you will want to eat earlier. If you stay up late, you will want to eat dinner later to avoid late-night snacking. The key is, you don't want to be, or feel full before going to bed. That can lead to acid reflux and can decrease the quality of your sleep, increase inflammation and can definitely make weight management a lot harder. Of course, many other factors add to this too, like the time you eat lunch. Those that maybe skip breakfast and opt for an earlier lunch may find it difficult to wait for dinner and end up eating too early and to combat that, simply grab a snack between lunch and dinner that won't fill you up, but will take care of the hunger for a little while so you can eat dinner a little later.
