New hotness in gym classes...resting
Now THIS is a workout routine you might be able to stick with! With America emerging from an exhausting pandemic, coupled with the fact that our daily lives make it difficult to get good, quality sleep, we seem to need rest now more than ever. In fact, gyms across the country are seeing an uptick in participation of "gentler classes" like meditation and yoga. People are increasingly taking advantage of gyms' "recovery rooms" with massage chairs and long rests in the sauna. Focus has shifted as well. More people are concerned with how they feel as opposed to the way they LOOK. When surveyed as to why they workout, the answers were either "to feel better", or "to reduce stress", there was NOTHING about looking better in a bathing suit. “Leaving it all on the gym floor doesn’t seem like a priority as much,” said Marc Santa Maria, he is the national director of group fitness for Crunch Signature. "People are no longer taking a no pain, no gain approach to fitness." Interesting and you can see more here
