People are just now realizing that Humpty Dumpty wasn’t an egg
We all know the famous nursery rhyme:
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king's horses and all the kings' men
Couldn't put Humpty together again
WHERE does it say he's an egg? Go ahead, say it again, I'll wait! In the 1700s, "humpty dumpty" was bourbon boiled with ale, also a short, clumsy person, or referred to someone who is drunk...maybe from drinking too much "humpty dumpty". We somehow got the idea he was an egg, but how? That can be blamed on Lewis Carroll. In 1871 when he published "Through the Looking Glass", HE is the one who portrayed Humpty Dumpty as an egg and we've held onto it ever since. I heard a rumor that the tale of Humpty Dumpty was making fun of a king and his situation at the time, but who knows? Don't be a humpty dumpty and read the rest of the story here
